Update-2 Weather.com Confirms Warm Dry Outlook for February
Finally recognition of drought conditions.
Look for changes in five days or State needs to announce conservation measures.
Update-1 Monday 1/29
Skied Mammoth today and snow conditions were OK. Plenty of cover and fast snow. They did a great job of grooming and everybody was having a good time.Amazingly it was 52 degrees at Chair 2 base but no slush.Plenty of snow at summit.
LaNIna Hell in California
Update as of 1/28 shows above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation for the next 10 days. Los Angeles has seasonal precipitation of less than 2 inches season to date and a red flag warning this week with high winds. San Francisco has no rain in forecast. Head to Northern tier States especially Montana for cold and snow. Mammoth did get a foot of snow late last week.
Update 1/24/18 Several inches coming over next 2 days but long term outlook dominated by blocking High Pressure in Pacific
- Outlook through Jan 30.
- Climate below normal ppt through FEB 3, northern tier above normal.
- Mammoth Snow Report 78 in. snow season to date but 151 at Summit; last year we got 245 in. in January and 163 in. in February.
- Dry outlook in West next 10 days. Temperatures above normal.
Looks like Montana is the ticket especially Big Sky Resort.

Looks like finally we may get a breakthrough with storms making it into California. We we will provide a detailed update by Monday.

Update 12/12/17 Dry Pattern Will Continue in California
Jet stream remains far to the North and is variable so even AR storms unlikely. Red flag warning in SoCal with Santa Ana winds brings power line ignition risk as well.
- Rain is Seattle by weekend but nothing big; hope for Montana ppt.
- Ten Day Outlook for San Francisco looks clear no ppt.
- NOAAA 8-14 day outlook dry.
- Sheckter says no change in forecast for MM-persistent West Coast ridge.
- Thomas Fire in Ventura County Unchecked at 20%.
