Life Science Stocks Are Mixed-Biopharma Weak But Diagnostics Strong
The life science sector traded along with NASDAQ today so as the NAZ sold off (tech stock weakness) biotech followed. The IBB (181.51) off 0.58% could not regain momentum as of mid-day trading after a 3 day rally. Profit taking was evident in some larger cap biopharmaceutical stocks: Alkermes (ALKS), Alexion (ALXN), Biogen Idec (BIIB), Biomarin (BMRN), and Regeneron (REGN) but there were many movers in mid caps with more than half of the 50 stocks we track green. High flyers of note among mid-caps are Celldex (CLDX) down 4.4% and Sarepeta (SRPT) up 4% both on high volume.
Albany Molecular (AMRI) hit a 2013 high of $13.69 today. We recommended the stock at $4.68 in Feb 2011.
