Trading Model for SMID Biotech Stocks- Outperfomed the Market in 2026
- Our bullish call for Biotech Stocks was made in January 2026 after the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference.
- Our Trading Model selected a Portfolio of SMID Biotech stocks, Mutual Funds and ETFs to buy.
- Innovation with Precision Oncology and Genomics introduced at ASCO were pivotal to gains in 2026.
In January 2026 we introduced our updated SMID stock picks integrated with our Trading Model. We felt that these picks would determine a bull market for biotech. Among the big winners in this portfolio were: ADPT, DNTH, EXEL, GH, ILMN, LGND, PSNL, PTGX and XNCR. As you might expect there were a few losers: like EYPT and RXRX. But given that we offered alternatives to picking individual stocks, namely buy ETFs and or Funds. The IBB is up 28% YTD and the XBI is up 29% YTD. We also featured in our articles a quarterly review of major Large Cap Biopharmaceutical stocks as core holdings to your portfolio. Our top picks varied but most of the large cap biopharma picks made excellent returns: ABBV up 25% YTD, GILD up 29.7%YTD, LLY up 19.9% YTD, and some of our recent picks were Biogen (BIIB) up 17% QTD and GEHC up 14% MTD.
So the important point to remember in biotech investing over the past 2 years is that you don’t have to understand molecular biology because if you pick the sector with an ETF and one or two mutual funds you’ll be content with your investing results. And the you’ll learn about your own health as you understand diagnostic medicine, imaging, and exciting developments in oncology, neurology, and infectious diseases.
Moving forward in 2027 we are not ready to make predictions but if you have been reading our posts you are certainly equipped to appreciate the field of biopharmaceuticals and to understand the stock market dynamics to develop a biotechnology portfolio. But given the increased dangers of cybersecurity and the tedious mechanics of WEB Page management, we are requesting that all readers sign up for RAYGENT.com to access all of our research and years of market data. Details will be forthcoming and we expect to implement our SIGN-UP policy in January.
